Exporting Commercial Goods from Nepal

  • When Empathy Freight is used as the Shipper/Exporter we must do the packing of your goods.
  • Foreign currency should be deposited to our account and it should be equivalent to the customs declared invoice value.
  • We need proper supplier invoice i.e. name of the company with PAN or VAT number and duly signed by the host.
  • Invoice should be issued on the name of the shipper/exporter and buyer`s name should be written in the bracket (.............).
  • Please notify us before hand if you have any fragile items or anything which needs special packing.

Banned and Quantitatively Restricted Products

  • Articles of Archaeological and Religious Importance
    • National and foreign coins of archaeological value
    • Idols of gods and goddesses, palm leaf inscription (Tad Patra), leaf inscription (Bhojpatra)
    • Scroll (Thanka Paintings) of historical importance
    • Cows and Oxen
  • Conserved Wildlife and related articles
    • Wild animals
    • Bile and any part of wild animal
    • Musk
    • Snake skin and lizard skin
  • Drugs
    • Marijuana, opium, hashish (As defined in the Single Convention on Narcotics, 1961)
  • Metals and Jewelleries
    • Valuable metals and jewelleries (except permitted under bag and baggage regulations and products manufactured by Nepalese industry except of diamond)
  • Articles of industrial importance
    • Explosive materials and related fuse or materials needed for fuse
      Materials used in the production of arms and ammunition
  • Industrial raw materials
    • Raw hides and skin (including dry salted)
    • Raw wool

  • Other products
    • Mamira
    • Log and Timb

B.   Products Under Quantitive Restrictions

Rice, Wheat, Gram, Black Peas, Rapseed, Maize, Arahar, Lentil, Mustard, Yellow Mustard Seed, Poppy Seed, Raw Silk exceeding 100kg without L/C. Products as notified by Nepal Government in the Nepal Gazette, from time to time.


C.  For Your Protection

Following is a list of items that require special written permission from the government departments before export:

  • Department of archeology: any bronze, brass, copper or silver statue, any thanka painting, illustrated manuscript, wooden mask or woodcarving & other carved goods.
  • Department of Veterinary Science the meat, skin or flesh (dried or otherwise) of wild or domestic animals.
  • Department of National Parks & wildlife skulls, horns, tails, hoofs or other body parts of domestic animals.
  • Quarantine Department: plant, flowers
  • Mine Department: Stones (rocks)
  • Department of Forest: incense powder, rudrakshi beads
  • Plant Resource Department: ayurvedic/herbal oil/marc/ext./crude
